How do I restore my Spectrum Internet

There are occasions when Spectrum service encounters an outage because of technical faults in the locality. Although the outage occurs for a very short duration, Spectrum modems don't come online shortly. You can reset your modem and router to resolve small problems. There are several methods you can reset your equipment like My Spectrum app and by sign in to your Spectrum account.

If you regularly facing Spectrum issues, you may need to look at cord-cutting options. You may be tempted to use Spectrum TV streaming, but you'll likely be better off looking at a full break to a service such as DirecTV Now or Sling. You can also opt to switch to DirecTV.

You can also place a complaint about the Spectrumservice outage issue and check outage at Spectrum outage map website.

How do I restore my Spectrum Internet?

One-Piece Modem/Router Combo (Gateway) or Modem Only

To reset your gateway or your standalone modem:
1.       Unplug the power cord from the gateway or modem and remove batteries.
2.       Wait 30 seconds, and then again insert any batteries and reconnect the power cable.
3.       Wait 2 minutes to make sure that the reset is complete. Your modem’s connection lights must be solid (not blinking).
4.       Check your internet connection to confirm its working.

Modem with Separate Wi-Fi Router

To reset your modem and your Wi-Fi router:
1.       Unplug the power cord from the rear of the modem and remove any batteries.
2.       Unplug the power cord from the Wi-Fi router.

3.       Wait 30 seconds, and then again insert any batteries and reconnect power to the modem.
4.       Allow a minimum of 2 minutes to ensure that the reset is complete. Your modem’s connection lights must be solid (not blinking).
5.       Reconnect the power to your Wi-Fi router. Allow a minimum of 2 minutes for your router to finish powering on.

6.       Check your internet connection to ensure its working.

Another thing to check is the location in your home. Farther you are from the router, the slower speeds typically you see. This is especially true with walls and several floors between you and the router.

If you still face a slow Internet connection, especially if you can test while pinning to your router, you can narrow this down to being Spectrum’s issue. You can check your speed using Speedtest.net. It should be close to what you pay Spectrum bill for.
